the community o' artists!

I did a painting last night. 8" x 10" acrylic on canvas. Not sure how I feel about it. I used the raw, unprimed side of the canvas because I like the texture but maybe it's not the best thing to do. Plus, the painting, which is from a photo that I took yesterday morning around 8am is kind of dark and no amount of fooling around with it in Photoshop neutralizes the harshness of the scanner. When I laid down in bed I had to kick out the jams and freestyle a sketch of an old lady that popped into my mind yesterday. I drew her as I saw her (in my mind). I don't know what it means. I had to draw her, so I did, then got out of bed (11:30pm) and fired up the computer and scanner so I could post it. Sometimes I see things (mostly people) and I feel compelled to draw them. Last week I was out with a friend (female) at a business expo. I saw this beautiful woman behind a booth. Most guys would look at her and think: "I gotta do her." All I thought about and told my friend was: "I want to draw her face, it's perfect." I could not even tell you anything about her body because I was captivated by her face.

Digital Art needed for Pirate Game! [Dec. 28th, 2005|12:01 am]
the community o' artists!
I am looking for an artist for my game Pixel Pirates (dot net). This is not a paying job, but a partnership - the artist will own 25% of the company, and therefore own 25% of any profits made, plus plenty of publicity. As the website states, the artist will need to be able to work quickly in providing scenes, characters, items and such for the game. This would be a pretty long term project, so if you're willing to devote the time, we could do great things with it :D

I am looking for a clean, digital cartoonish style, and in fact, here is a great example of the style I am looking for:

Anyway, I'd love to see some examples from interested artists!

I have been wading through the LJ communities and putting this link up on anyone that has anything to do with comics. The deal is that these fine people are putting great stuff up to bid on and every dime you drop goes to help the people who got hit by Hurricane Katrina, The more dough you spend the more people you help and the more cool shit you get

New Manga Webcomic: Wandering Souls [Dec. 2nd, 2004|04:15 am]
the community o' artists!

Check out a new manga webcomic at www.geocities.com/blackwolf13michael/Wandering_Souls.html
Many cultures compose the rich amalgam that is futuristic, yet almost reduced back to Feudal, Japan. A demon ronin with nothing to lose seeks a ki-lin (I warned you it's an amalgam), picking up a band of those as lost as he is along the way. They are wandering souls, criss-crossing this strange land in search of...something.

Hi all. I'm new here... thought I would join and have a chat. My website is:

I have some animation stuff of dragons up on the site in the showreel section. I’m trying to produce a short film using Maya 3D. Might take a while!

If you like dark art you might be interested in my "Bizarre series" of huge pencil works that I am currently doing. I've only really just decided to devoted some serious time to drawing... I'm mostly concerned with lighting and mood. I'm very excited about pushing things in the coming weeks and years. It's funny how the act of drawing dark an strange things can make a person so happy.

My latest is frailty

A few others in the bizarre series are:

Guess I've been gone... not much to say, the community sort of flopped and died. Sorry 'bout that. If anyone new wants to join, it is open membership and anyone can post. I hope you guys enjoy this community- I want you to join and start making it your home. Hopefully it will be self running eventually.

I am doing more collage and writing pieces and veering off a bit from the "art deco on acid" - my influences lately have been influenced by collage, arabic and greek writing, cats, and people - who i shall name by the pseudonyms i created for them "the nurturer," "rumplestiltskin," "stathis the strange," and "orpheus."

to see more of my new stuff - go to this link on Andrew's website:

posted comments and criticism under the pictures are welcomed, read, considered, and appreciated. they help give me new ideas.

thanx, a grace
